BUIES CREEK - Nadiria Evans' 33 points weren't enough as Campbell held off UNC Asheville for a 70-60 win Wednesday night inside Gore Arena.
Faith Price led Campbell (15-5, 9-2) with 18 points while Christabel Ezumah had a career-high 14 off the bench. Taya Bolden recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 boards.
UNC Asheville (7-14, 2-8) opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run but Campbell answered behind eight points from Ezumah and seven from Price to hold a 33-26 halftime lead. The Camels used a 7-0 run late in the third quarter to pull away from the Bulldogs for good.
Campbell held a 39-22 advantage on the boards, including pulling down 17 off the offensive glass. CU scored 22 points off 18 UNC Asheville turnovers and slightly edged the Bulldogs in points in the paint 30-28.
The Camels shot 42.9 percent (21-49) from the field and made 82.1 percent (23-28) from the free throw line. Asheville made 44.9 percent (22-49) from the field but made just 2-of-14 from three.
Brittany Staves added 12 points for the Camels who remained atop the Big South standings while Luana Serranho added nine points and five assists.
