BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell jumped to a 19-0 lead and never trailed Wednesday night in a 78-35 win over Winthrop at Gore Arena.
The Camels (20-6, 14-3 Big South) led by as many as 43 in winning their sixth contest in the last seven games. Winthrop (6-22, 4-13) missed its first 10 shots, made just 24.5 overall from the floor and dropped its second-consecutive game.
Taya Bolden led the Camels with 12 points, while Luana Serranho and Christabel Ezumah added 10 apiece. Shy Tuelle, who was the only Camel to play more than 20 minutes, knocked down a three to reach the 1,000 career point barrier.
Luka Malinka came off the bench to lead Winthrop with 10 points.
Campbell secured a first-round bye in next week's Big South Championship at Charlotte. The Camels are tied with Longwood for first place heading into Saturday's regular season finale at home against High Point (2:00).
The Camels shot 45.8 percent (33-72) from the field, outrebounded the Eagles 47-30, and finished with a 44-12 edge in points in the paint, 23-7 in points off turnovers.
Campbell led 43-12 at the half after holding the Eagles to just 4-of-27 from the field (.148) before the break. The Camels blocked two more shots (6) in the opening half than the Eagles made and outscored the visitors by a 24-4 margin in the paint.
