Camels blank Flames 7-0

Lynchburg, Va. – The Campbell bats came to life in a major way as Campbell topped No. 14 Liberty Friday with a 7-0 shutout win. Zach Neto homered twice and Logan Jordan went deep as well in the biggest display of power from the Campbell offense so far this season.

The win snapped Liberty's 11-game win streak this season, as well as snapped the nation's longest home win streak with the Flames having won 17 in a row at Worthington Field going back to last season. The win is the second of the year over a top-15 team, joining the 7-4 win over No. 8 NC State on Mar. 2.

Campbell returned to .500 on the year, now sitting at 7-7 overall. Liberty falls to 11-2 with their first loss since Opening Day.

Neto led the offense b mashing 886 total feet of home runs. The first, a solo shot in the fourth inning, cleared the scoreboard in left-center field and carried an impressive 435'. He outdid himself just one inning later, going over the batter's eye in center on a 451' shot. Neto finished 2-4 with three RBI.

Jordan connected on his first big fly as a Camel, going deep in the fourth inning as well, a three-run blast that pushed the Campbell lead to 4-0 at the time.

A seven-run cushion was more than enough for Thomas Harrington on the bump, who turned in another fantastic start. The sophomore recorded his fourth-straight quality start, and third in a row of seven innings while allowing one or fewer runs.

Harrington finished with a line of 7.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB 7 Ks. Friday was the second shutout of the season for the Camels, both coming during Harrington's starts.

Jake Murray worked a scoreless eighth inning in relief ahead of Garrett Kangas tossing the ninth.

Due to the expected inclement weather in the area, these teams will not play Saturday and will conclude the series with one game on Sunday. First pitch for Sunday is set for 1 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
