WILMINGTON, N.C. – Campbell got back in the win column with a 13-4 win at UNCW Tuesday night. Campbell scored 13 runs on 12 hits as eight Seahawk pitchers combined to issue eight walks to help the cause.
The second win of the season over UNCW moves Campbell to 25-14, while the Seahawks fall to 23-16.
Jarrod Belbin put the Camels on the board in the third with a two-run shot to right, no easy feat on a day with a stiff breeze blowing in. Campbell added to the lead with an RBI single from Denning in the fourth.
UNCW quickly erased the three-run lead with three runs in the fourth against
Cade Kuehler, but the offense picked them right back up the following half-inning. A two-out two-run double from
Logan Jordan set up another RBI single from Denning to go up 6-3.
Campbell added plenty of late insurance getting three in the eighth and four in the ninth.
Lawson Harrill and Jordan each drove in runs in the eighth, and Harrill capped the night with a three-run blast in the ninth.
Kuehler (2-5) turned in a quality start for the Camels, tossing 6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 5 K. All the damage came in the fourth inning, and he retired the final seven batters he faced.
Ty Cummings picked up where he left off to pick up his team-high fifth save of the season working
Jordan had a big day at the dish, going 3-5 with two doubles and a triple, two RBI and two runs scored. Harrill had a pair of hits to account for his career-high five RBI on the night.
The Camels have a quick turnaround, facing UNCG at home tomorrow night. That game is
