Box Score COLUMBUS, OHIO –
Ty Babin homered three times while Campbell belted six total home runs on the night in an 11-1 win at Ohio State Tuesday night. Campbell has now gone deep 11 times in its last two games.
The win is Campbell's seventh in a row and takes the Camels to 31-14 on the year, while Ohio State falls to 17-27. Campbell is now 2-0 this season against the Buckeyes, having also beat them in Fayetteville, N.C. on Mar. 4.
Ty Babin finished 4-4 with his first career multi-home run game, going deep in the second, fourth, and seventh innings, all solo shots. He reached in all five plate appearances including a single and HBP. The fifth-year senior has six home runs in his last five games and 11 on the year.
Logan Jordan,
Drake Pierson and
Zach Neto all hit home runs on the night as well. Jordan and Pierson both connected for three-run blasts, while Neto capped the Campbell scoring with a solo shot in the eighth. Six home runs are Campbell's second most in a game this year, and fifth time hitting five or more.
In addition to the home runs, Campbell scattered 15 hits on the night and had at least one hit in very inning. Six Camels had multi-hit games and each of the top four in the batting order had two.
The pitching was every bit as good as the offense, allowing just the one run on five hits.
Cade Kuehler (4-5) turned in a quality start with a line of 6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 10 K. It's his third time notching 10+ strikeouts this season, and first since Mar. 5 against Army. The sophomore has now earned the win in his last three starts, all on Tuesdays.
Cameron O'Brien and
Jake Murray combined to finish the final three innings, allowing just one hit and no runs.
Ohio State's Jacob Gehring (0-3) was tagged with the loss.
