Campbell defeats William & Mary 2-1 on Homecoming

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell defeated William & Mary 2-1 on Homecoming, Saturday night at Eakes Athletics Complex.

In a game featuring 11 yellow cards, with two resulting in reds, Campbell improved to 3-5-4 overall, 2-3-2 in the CAA. William & Mary, which played a man down for the final 62 minutes, dropped to 2-8-5 and 1-4-2 in conference games.

The Camels remain in the hunt for one of the two remaining spots in the CAA Championship with its second CAA victory. Campbell is in a three-way tie with eight points along with Charleston and Elon while Delaware sits slightly ahead with nine points.

Tai-Reece Chisholm, who scored two goals last Saturday at Elon, put the Camels ahead in the 32nd minute. Chisholm fired on an empty net after William & Mary's keeper whiffed on a kick at the top of the box.

In the 73rd minute, Gerard Broussard came off the bench to score his first goal of the season. Broussard received a pass from Adam Yousfi and made a run down the middle of the field, firing his shot into the top right corner.

The Tribe answered in the 77th as Daniel Salom sent a rocket from 25-yards out.

Campbell outshot William & Mary 8-6 and edged the Tribe 4-3 on corners.

William & Mary's Evan Rabush was sent off after receiving his second yellow in the 28th minute while Ethan Roberts received his second yellow in the 89th minute.

The Camels return to action Tuesday in its final home game of the regular season against Gardner-Webb. Campbell will honor Angel Bacho, Bissafi Dotte and Kyoji Hata for Senior Day.
