NORFOLK, VA. - Karan Mandair scored the only goal of the game and Old Dominion defeated Campbell 1-0 Tuesday night at the ODU Soccer Complex.
The Monarchs (5-0-5) remained unbeaten on the season after Mandair converted a penalty kick in the 11th minute after a foul called on Campbell (2-4-4) inside the box. Michael Statham made three saves for the Monarchs to pick up his fourth shutout of the season.
Campbell, who out-shot ODU 4-1 in the first 45 minutes, had its best chance of the night come in the 20th minute as Adam Yousfi's right-footed attempt off a volley was denied by Statham.
ODU finished with a 8-7 edge in shots while both sides tied 3-3 in attempts on target. The Camels held a slight 6-5 advantage on corners.
Samy Slimi made two saves for the Camels, including preventing a header from crossing the goal line in the 70th minute.
Campbell will take the rest of the week off and continue its three-match road swing next Tuesday at VCU.
