Women’s soccer 2024 signing class announced

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell women's soccer and head coach Jeff Gross welcomed eight athletes who signed their National Letter of Intent as part of the 2024 signing class.

The athletes will finish their senior year in high school before joining the Fighting Camels for the 2024 season.

Abygaelle Normand – Québec, Canada | École secondaire St-Gabriel | CF Montréal Academy/ NDC québec (PEF) | Defender

Abygaelle Normand

Normand comes to Campbell from Québec, Canada. She won first place in the Ligue 1 Québec, a semi-pro league, and she placed second in the Canadian championship. She plans to major in business administration.

Coach Gross – "Abygaelle is a left sided defender who plays with grit and is as competitive as they come. She is excited about Campbell, and we are looking forward to adding a left footed defender to our team! We have enjoyed her mindset toward soccer and life, and she is a fantastic addition to this program."

Olivia Vandre – Burlington, N.C. | Walter M. Williams HS | NC Fusion ECNL | Midfielder

Olivia Vandre

A two-time NCHSAA All-State selection in 2022 and 2023, Vandre will add depth and experience to the Campbell attack. She plans to major in biology during her time on campus.

Coach Gross – "Olivia is a sneaky footballer whose best days on a soccer field are on the way. My estimation for her is that she has yet to peak. She's another left footer who can connect the dots, create a moment on her own and provides good service. She is a competitor!"

Susan Guzman – Wilson, N.C. | James B. Hunt HS | WYSA 06 Girls | Midfielder

Susan Guzman

Guzman comes to Campbell after being named NCHSAA All-State her sophomore and junior seasons. She was the youngest player from her high school to ever be named all-state and all-conference. She was also a member of the first girls' team for her travel club to attend USYS Nationals. Her major is currently undecided.

Coach Gross – "Susan will join us this spring as she desires to get into a higher-level environment as soon as possible. She has craft, is highly technical, and is a sneaky high-level athlete. Her versatility is something that drew us to her as a player and she will make her teammates better all the time."

Gillian Garrison – Sanford, N.C. | Lee County HS | NC Fusion ECNL | Defender

Gillian Garrison

A local signing, Garrison joins current Camel Zahra Fepessi as Sanford natives on the squad. A two-time NCHSAA All-State and All-Region selection, she helped her high school team score the most goals in a single season. Garrison plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Coach Gross – "Gillian is another sneaky good player, with a great mindset to help the team first. She can play multiple positions and we fancy her as an attacking player that can go into any position and make that space work to her advantage. Each of the individuals in this class are good humans and Gillian is a gem."

Caitlyn Boucher – Severna Park, Md. | Severna Park HS | Maryland United ECNL | Defender

Caitlyn Boucher

Boucher helped her club team win the ECNL North American Cup Champions in 2023. She plans to major in nursing while at Campbell.

Coach Gross – "Caitlyn is tough, gritty, cerebral and a well-rounded defender. She can play multiple positions and what we recognized in her is her reliability. Regardless of the role she was asked to play, or the circumstances of the game she's in, she has been steady and reliable. She is another one who has not peaked yet and this is exciting."

Tyler Baughan – Charlotte, N.C. | Community School of Davidson | Charlotte Independence Soccer ECNL | Forward

Tyler Baughan

A state champion as a freshman, Baughan has been named NCHSAA All-Conference, All-Region and All-State. She plans to pursue a degree in psychology.

Coach Gross – "Tyler is a hungry forward who can compete with any one physically. I watched her enter a tackle at full speed, the other player bounced off Tyler. That mentality serves her in competition and around the goal. She's a quality fit in the Creek."

Ava Kanaar – Tampa Fla. | F.W. Springstead HS | Florida Premier FC ECNL | Forward

Ava Kanaar

A three-time All-Gulf Coast selection, Kanaar holds the Springstead record for most goals scored in a single game (7). She also recorded 53 goals in a season and was a member of the first girls' soccer team from the school to advance to the quarterfinals in the regional playoffs. Kanaar plans to major in business administration.

Coach Gross – "Ava has a great combination of mentality and attacking instincts. She is as tough as they come, often the initiator of the fight to win. She has great instincts in the front third and loves to see her teammates do well. Most importantly she is a fantastic person."

Abby Connolly – Thomasville, N.C. | East Davidson HS | NC Fusion ECNL | Midfielder

Abby Connolly

A highly decorated player, Connolly holds school records for goals in a game (9) and season (70). She was NCHSAA All-Conference her freshman-junior year, All-Region her sophomore and junior season, and the NCHSAA Central Carolina Conference Offensive Player of the Year during her junior season. She was also a U15 US Youth Futsal National Champion. She is currently undecided on a major.

Coach Gross – "Abby is the ultimate competitor, dishing out hard tackles, and sublime passes for others to use to score, in equal fashion. She is an organizer and someone all her teammates will come to rely on when the fight is at its greatest. She is best when the most is on the line!"
