Camels fall at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Campbell fell to Jacksonville 62-48 Wednesday night inside Swisher Gymnasium. After taking a seven-point lead into the first half, the Camels went cold in the second and shot only 20% in the final 20 minutes.

The loss drops Campbell to 2-5 on the season while Jacksonville improves to 5-2.

Anthony Dell'Orso continued to fill it up on offense, leading all scorers with 19. He was, however, Campbell's only double-figure scorer on the night, as Laurynas Vaistaras added nine on the evening. Dell'Orso also led the efforts on the glass hauling in six boards.

It was a tale of two halves for the Camels, shooting 45% in the first half to carry a 32-25 point into the break. Dell'Orso had 10 points at the half including a pair of triples. Colby Duggan also knocked down a first half triple. The Camels took care of the ball in the first as well, committing only four turnovers.

The game turned on its head after halftime, with Campbell coughing the ball up 10 times and only scoring four field goals in the second half. The Camels went through three separate three-minute scoring droughts in the second.

Bryce Workman led the Dolphins in scoring with 18, and was one of four in double figures. JU went an efficient 15-17 at the foul line tonight, while Campbell went 13-20.

Campbell returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m. against Southern Virginia. That game will be broadcast on FloSports.
