BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Seven Camels scored in double figures as Campbell opened the season with a 108-37 win over NC Wesleyan Monday night at Gore Arena.
Christabel Ezumah led the Camels with 16 points on 8-of-8 shooting for Campbell, which led 19-6 after the first quarter and 42-21 at halftime.
The Camels held Wesleyan to just four points and one made field goal in the third quarter and led by as many as 73 in the fourth.Â
Shy Tuelle, in her first game back after missing the final 24 games last season due to injury, scored 14 points behind four 3-pointers. Sarah Hammack Fitzgerald added 14 points while sophomores Gianni Boone and Gemma Nunez finished with 11 apiece for the Camels whose 71-point victory margin was the fourth-most in program history.
Freshmen Hadleigh Dill and Jessica Woods scored 13 each with Woods leading the way with a game-high seven assists.
Campbell scored 26 points off 21 turnovers, and outscored Wesleyan 27-0 on fast breaks.The Battling Bishops made just 26.2 percent (16-61) of their shots. The Camels out-rebounded the Battling Bishops 49-29 and outscored NC Wesleyan 54-20 in the paint.
Kayrisma Harrison led Division-III NC Wesleyan with 16 points while Deonna Adams dished out five assists.
Campbell returns to action Thursday in a 5:00 PM tip at Coppin State before traveling to face Virginia on Sunday.
