BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Svenia Nurenberg scored a career-high 17 points and Campbell defeated NC Central 74-61 Tuesday evening at Gore Arena.
Shy Tuelle and Audrey Fuller both tied their season-high with 14 points for the Camels who improve to 6-2 overall. NC Central was led by 17 points from Kimeira Burks as the Eagles drop to 3-5 overall.
Campbell finished the first half on a 13-2 run, which included two three-pointers from Sarah Hammack Fitzgerald and one from Hadleigh Dill, earning a 37-22 advantage at the intermission.
Tuelle gave the Camels its largest lead of the night at 43-22 after hitting back-to-back triples immediately after the halftime break. The Eagles cut the deficit to as few as six later in the fourth quarter behind a 12-0 run before Tuelle and Fuller answered with threes to put CU back up by double-figures.
Gianni Boone provided 10 points as Campbell outscored the Eagles' bench 33-12. Gemma Nunez added six points, two assists, three steals and a career-high 10 boards while Chritabel Ezumah added two points, nine boards and a season-best five blocks.
The Camels made 28-of-61 (.459) from the field and made a season-high 14 three-pointer on 40.0 percent shooting from range. NC Central made 20-of-58 (.345) from the floor, 5-of-16 (.313) from three and converted 16-of-24 (.667) free throws.
Campbell will take over a week off for exams before returning to action at Gore Arena on Thursday, Dec. 14 against Lancaster Bible on Education Day.
