Camels head to Charleston Southern Wednesday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell looks to end its three-game skid in a 6 p.m. tip at Charleston Southern Wednesday.


LAST TIME OUT

  • Alasia Smith scored 17 points and Gardner-Webb defeated Campbell 63-50 Saturday afternoon at Gore Arena
  • Layken Cox scored 14 while Jhessyka Williams and Ki'Ari Cain each added 12 for the Runnin' Bulldogs (22-4, 14-0) who extended their winning streak to 14 games and clinched a share of the conference regular season title
  • Christabel Ezumah led all scorers with 20 points while adding 13 rebounds and a career-high three assists for the Camels (13-12, 8-6)
  • Gardner-Webb led 30-27 at halftime but pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Camels 15-2 over the final 6:06 in the period
  • Campbell shot 39.1 percent (18-of-46) from the field, 26.7 percent from three (4-of-15) and converted 10-of-15 free throws while Gardner-Webb made 46.3 percent (25-54) from the floor and 6-of-17 threes

  • Additionally, the Camels rank No. 50 nationally with 40.3 rebounds per game, No. 16 with a rebound margin of 8.3 and No. 49 averaging 4.3 blocks per game

BOONE BOOMIN'

  • Freshman guard Gianni Boone has been a top option for the CU offense this season

HEAD COACH RONNY FISHER

  • A three-time Big South Coach of the Year and the winningest active coach in the conference, Ronny Fisher is in his  seventh season at the helm of Campbell University women's basketball
  • Over the previous six seasons Campbell has won 119 games for an average of nearly 20 wins per season
  • As the current longest-tenured Big South coach in his 15th season, Fisher leads all active coaches in the conference with 229 wins overall including 144 in the Big South
  • Under Fisher, the Camels won the 2019-20 and 2021-22 Big South regular season titles and finished as Big South tournament runner-up in 2019, 2021 and 2022
  • Fisher has also led Campbell to its first-ever WNIT berth in 2021-22 along with two other postseason appearances in the WBI. He helped the Camels claim their first ever postseason win in the 2019 WBI
  • Previously served as head coach at Presbyterian (2008-16)
