Camels host Winthrop Wednesday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell returns home Wednesday to host Winthrop in a 2 p.m. tip from Gore Arena.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Christabel Ezumah's career-high 21 points wasn't enough as Campbell fell to Presbyterian 60-56 Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center
  • Mara Neira led Presbyterian (12-15, 8-8) with 17 points and four assists while Bryanna Brady and Tilda Sjokvist added 10 each
  • Ezumah made 10-of-15 shots and added nine boards for Campbell (14-13, 9-7). Svenia Nurenberg added 12 points while Audrey Fuller and Brittany Staves contributed seven apiece
  • Presbyterian jumped out to an early lead behind an 11-2 run to end the first quarter and led 39-27 at the half. The Blue Hose extended their lead to as many as 19 with 1:15 left in the third quarter
  • Campbell used a 13-3 run to start the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to single digits. Nurenberg, who scored 10 points in the final period, made it a four-point game after her three-pointer with 2:06 left
  • A steal and score by Fuller with less than a minute remaining cut the Blue Hose lead to 58-56. Campbell had a chance to tie or take the lead but turned it over on an inbounds pass with 5.5 seconds left

  • Campbell defeated the Eagles earlier this season, 53-40, behind a career-high 20 points from Audrey Fuller

HEAD COACH RONNY FISHER

  • A three-time Big South Coach of the Year and the winningest active coach in the conference, Ronny Fisher is in his  seventh season at the helm of Campbell University women's basketball
  • Over the previous six seasons Campbell has won 119 games for an average of nearly 20 wins per season
  • As the current longest-tenured Big South coach in his 15th season, Fisher leads all active coaches in the conference with 230 wins overall including 145 in the Big South
  • Under Fisher, the Camels won the 2019-20 and 2021-22 Big South regular season titles and finished as Big South tournament runner-up in 2019, 2021 and 2022
  • Fisher has also led Campbell to its first-ever WNIT berth in 2021-22 along with two other postseason appearances in the WBI. He helped the Camels claim their first ever postseason win in the 2019 WBI
  • Previously served as head coach at Presbyterian (2008-16)
