BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Following a pair of road outings, Campbell's
Rebekah Taylor and
Delaney Nicolaus have been named Big South Players of the Week.
Taylor was named the league's defensive player of the week, while Nicolaus was tabbed freshman of the week for the second time this season.
Taylor paced the Campbell defense on Saturday at William & Mary, helping the Camels force double overtime on the road with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. The 2022 Big South Defensive Player of the Year owns seven caused turnovers and eight ground balls this season.
Nicolaus registered her first career hat trick, totaling five points with five draw controls, a caused turnover, and a ground ball in two Campbell games last week. The rookie, who was also named Big South Freshman of the Week following Campbell's 2023 opening day win, posted three goals for the Camels at East Carolina, tacking on two draw controls, then followed with a pair of assists to go along with three draw controls, a ground ball, and a caused turnover at William & Mary. Nicolaus now owns six points on four goals and two assists on the season.
So far this season, Camels have been named Big South players of the week five times in just three weeks after sweeping the conference's weekly awards following opening weekend.
Next up, CU will head to George Mason on March 1. The Camels will return home, hosting Old Dominion on March 4.
