RADFORD, Va. – No. 18 Campbell swept Radford with a 22-4 win Sunday afternoon. The sweep featured the most total runs and largest margin of victory in a three-game series in program history, as Campbell outscored the Highlanders 60-12 during the weekend.
Campbell improves to 19-3, 6-0 in the Big South, while Radford drops to 7-17, 0-3 in the league.
The Camels collected 48 total hits on the weekend, with 27 going for extra bases. Campbell also hit 13 home runs during the weekend, adding three more today.
Jarrod Belbin had a massive day at the plate, going 5-7 with 2 HR, 2 2B, 7 RBI, and 4 runs. The Australian finished the weekend with 13 total RBI and four HR, going deep in all three games.
The Camels wasted no time getting on the board Sunday, with a single and two-run blast from
Drake Pierson to go ahead 2-0 two batters in, and led 4-0 by the end of the frame.
Campbell tacked on sixth in the second to go ahead 10-0 and put the game away early. Belbin hit the first of his two home runs on the day during the inning, as Campbell scored six runs on six hits.
Five more runs were scored in the middle third of the game, including Belbin's second home run as a two-run shot in the sixth. After being kept off the board in the seventh and eighth, Campbell eclipsed the 20 run mark for the second straight game with a seven-run ninth inning. Belbin capped the day's scoring with a three-run double in the final frame.
Bryce Arnold had a big day at the plate as well, going 3-5 with two triples, a double, and four RBI. Six total Camels scored three times during the game, with Belbin and Pierson each scoring a team-high four times.
It was a true staff day for the Camels on the mound, with nine pitchers making an appearance.
Ernie Day earned the win for his scoreless third inning.
Campbell now stays in Virginia for a midweek tilt at William & Mary. First pitch in Williamsburg is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed on FloBaseball.
