Box Score LAFAYETTE, LA. – Campbell dropped the series finale with Louisiana 14-7 Sunday afternoon at Tigue Moore Field. The Camels still leave Lafayette with the series having taken Friday and Saturday's games.
The loss drops Campbell to 8-2 on the season, while the Ragin' Cajuns end a three-game slide and improve to 7-4.
There was generally no shortage of Campbell offense, scoring seven runs on 11 hits, tying the Cajun hit total, but couldn't overcome the early deficit.
Campbell fell behind big early, with the Cajuns tagging
Ernie Day with eight runs to chase the starter before he completed an inning. With four runs already in, the final blow was a grand slam off the bat of Murasak to cap the first inning runs.
The Camels broke through for two runs in the second on a two-run home run by
Bryce Arnold, his third of the season. The Camels worked to within three runs with a five-run sixth inning that featured seven hits and three doubles.
The threer-un deficit was as close at things got after Louisiana responded with three of their own in the home half to push the lead back to six.
Cade Boxrucker stepped in for Day on the mound in the first and worked 4.1 innings allowing two runs on two hits.
Peyton Brown, Cam O'Brien,
Garret Kangas and
Jeremy Wiegman all saw time on the mound as well.
Belbin, Halstead, and Harrill all had two hits on the day, as Halstead raised his season average to .450 through 10 games.
The Camels now head just a few hours down the road to New Orleans for a pair of midweek matchups against Tulane on Tuesday and Wednesday. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
