BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell defender
Shae Fitzgerald has been named to the IWLCA's 2023 Senior All-Star team.
Rosters for the 2023 Senior All-Star games for Division I, II, and III were all announced on Thursday, with players selected in each Division divided into two teams: North and South.
The Senior All-Star games will be held on Tierney Field at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. on Saturday, June 3. The Division II teams will play the first game at 10:00 am ET, the Division III game will follow at 12:15 pm, and the Division I teams will cap off the event with their game at 2:30 pm. Admission for all three games is free of charge.
Suiting up for the North Team, Fitzgerald helped lead Campbell to a record-setting 2023 season as an anchor to a defense that led the NCAA in ground balls (20.63) and caused turnovers (14.11) per game, while ranking in the nation's top-40 in both categories individually.
Earning Big South Defensive Player of the Week honors a league-high three times this season, Fitzgerald posted the second most ground balls in program history behind teammate
Chandler Stewart (58) with 48, as well as the third most caused turnovers in school single-season history with 33, trailing only
Rebekah Taylor (37) and Stewart (35).
Fitzgerald added 52 draw controls and two assists as a senior in 2023, with the New Market, Md. native collecting multiple ground balls 15 times with nine games causing multiple turnovers.
In 2023, Campbell set season records for number of total wins (12), goals (269), assists (137), points (406), draw controls (292), ground balls (400) and caused turnovers (277).
Fitzgerald joins former Camels Mackenzie Koeller and Kayla Reilly, who participated in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game in 2018.
