BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Head coach
John Crooks has announced his 2023 women's golf recruiting class. Mira Berglund (Oernskoeldsvik, Sweden), Ella Butteriss (Farnam Common, England), Alicia Olsson (Amal, Sweden) and Jade Potter (Edinburgh, Scotland) will join the Fighting Camel program in August.
Campbell, which will move to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) on July 1, has won the last seven Big South Conference titles and made 11-consecutive NCAA postseason appearances. Crooks ranks second on the all-time NCAA Division I women's golf list with 99 career coaching victories.
"We are proud to announce the additions of Mira Berglund, Ella Butteriss, Alicia Olsson and Jade Potter to our seven-times in a row conference championship team," said Crooks, who is entering his 33rd season in charge of the program. "These young ladies make high grades in school and shoot low scores on the course. They are athletic, determined and focused on becoming the best student-athletes possible. Each young lady has excelled locally, regionally and on the international stage. The level of confidence they bring will make the Fighting Camels a team to watch in the rankings this year."
The Camels return the 2023 Big South freshman of the year
Isabella Hahne along with two-time all-conference performer
Sanna Lundmark.
Taylah Ellems was named to the 2023 Big South all-freshman team, while
Izabella Grimbrandt earned Big South freshman of the week recognition before missing most of the season with an injury.
Under Crooks' direction, Campbell has made 25 total NCAA regional appearances and won 19 conference titles.
