Camels add Latta to women's hoops staff

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell women's basketball head coach Ronny Fisher has announced the hiring of Jalen Latta as director of operations and player development.

"I am excited to announce the addition of Jalen Latta to our Campbell University women's basketball coaching staff," said Fisher. "Jalen is a person of high integrity with a value-system that fits perfectly within the culture of our program. Jalen also brings great experience having worked the past five seasons in the women's basketball program at perennial power, NC State.  Jalen comes highly recommended by NC State head coach Wes Moore, who is without question one of the best and most well-respected coaches in the country.  Most importantly, Jalen is passionate about helping our athletes grow both on and off the court and he will be an excellent role model for our players.  We are blessed to welcome Jalen to the wonderful Campbell University community!"

Latta recently served as a graduate assistant with NC State women's basketball. Over the past two seasons with the Wolfpack he assisted with recruiting efforts, workouts and practice plans, film, scouting reports and provided daily scheduling updates to all players and support staff. Additionally, Latta helped manage the program's TikTok account with content throughout the season along with content for other social media platforms.

Latta also owns a personal photography business, photographing events such as 2022 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament, the 2022 WNBA Draft Party and recently the 2023 Final Four: Super Saturday Concert. You can view his photography at @LattaFlicks on Instagram.

No stranger to the game of basketball, Latta played one season at Western New England University before transferring. He also served as an AAU coach with Stamford Peace, coaching fourth and fifth grade boy's teams from 2015-19. Additionally, Latta provides services as a basketball skills trainer, providing one-on-one training to players at local gyms.

"I am so excited to be working here at Campbell," said Latta. "It is truly a blessing to be apart of this program under Coach Fisher. I really appreciate him bringing me in and allowing me to help take this team to the next level. Everyone has been so welcoming ever since I stepped on campus and it is truly appreciated. It is great to be a Camel."

A two-time graduate from NC State, Latta completed his masters in liberal studies with concentrations in communication, leadership and sport this past May and earned a bachelors degree in sport management with a minor in business administration in 2021.

Latta joins a Campbell program that has won an average of 19 games over the past seven seasons and made the WNIT in 2022.
