BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell looks to rebound after dropping its first match of the season as the Camels host VMI, Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Kickoff from Eakes Athletics Complex is set for 7:00 PM and will be broadcast on FloFC. Campbell is 0-1-3 on the season while the Keydets enter the matchup at 1-4 overall.
LAST TIME OUT: Campbell - Led twice at different points before Drexel scored twice in the final 10 minutes to give Campbell a 3-2 loss last Saturday in Philadelphia. Adam Yousfi scored both goals for the Camels, including scoring on a free kick from the top of the 18-yard box. VMI - Lost 1-0 at home against Presbyterian.
SCOUTING VMI: Picked to finish last in the SoCon preseason coaches poll, VMI enters Tuesday's match with a 1-4 record. After picking up its first victory in a 2-0 win over NCAA division III foe Maritime College, the Keydets have dropped back-to-back games against LIU and Presbyterian. VMI is led by second-year head coach Nick Regan.
SERIES HISTORY: Campbell meets VMI for the seventh time in program history and first since 2018. The Camels are 4-2-0 all-time against the Keydets and have won each of the past four matchups including claiming a 6-0 victory in 2018.
POINTS LEADERS: Three different Camels (Gameiro, Yousfi, Lossec) have scored in each of the three games so far this season. Yousfi leads the Camels with three goals and one assist, ranking second among CAA goal leaders and fourth in the CAA with seven points
SILVERWARE COUNT AT SIX SINCE 2018: Between regular season and tournament titles, Campbell has won six overall since 2018 (Big South Double: 2019 & 2021, Big South Tournament: 2018, Big South regular season: 2022).
HOME, SWEET HOME: The Camels stand 32-4-9 in their last 45 matches overall at the Eakes Complex, including a 0-0-2 mark this season. Under 9th-year Coach Dustin Fonder, Campbell is 47-19-10 in Buies Creek.
HEAD COACH DUSTIN FONDER (Roanoke, '94) is in his ninth season at Campbell (84-49-20 overall, 43-18-5 Big South/CAA). His overall head coaching record stands at 162-112-38, including a 78-63-18 mark in eight seasons at High Point. In 2022, Fonder led Campbell to claim the Big South regular season title, the program's third in last four years, behind a 6-1-1 conference record. He has guided CU to 6 Big South trophies and 3 NCAA appearances (2018, 2019, 2021) over the past five seasons.
