Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Camels and Tribe score in both halves for 2-2 draw

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Campbell women's soccer played William & Mary to a 2-2 draw Thursday night at Martin Family Stadium.

The Camels now sit at 2-4-4 (0-2-3 CAA) and the Tribe remain undefeated at 5-0-5 (2-0-2 CAA) on the season.

Cambell redshirt senior Laney Peabody opened the scoring early by connecting on a corner kick delivered by Amber Liston in the fourth minute. The goal was Peabody's second headed goal off a corner kick this season.

William & Mary would equalize in the 35th minute. Campbell committed a foul in the box, resulting in a penalty shot which Kenna Zier slotted home.

The Tribe moved ahead of the Camels in the 69th minute, as Elaina Longjohn fired it first-touch into the net off a cross from Madison Moon.

In the 80th minute, Campbell used a similar goal to tie it up. Olivia Neal ran down the right side of the pitch towards the end line and crossed the ball into a dangerous area in front of the goal. Cazzi Norgren came in from the left side across the face of the goalie and connecting for her first goal of the season.

Each team picked up a yellow card, but neither could place a shot on target in the final 10 minutes. JLo Varada recorded six saves on the night to contain the William & Mary offense.

QUOTABLE

Head Coach Jeff Gross

"This is a tough league, a good league, and one we enjoy competing in. Things we've learned along the way have helped us each time we compete the next time. We started well, and in highly competitive games you have to expect a response from the opponent. Just like late in the game we had a response. That's a good point on the road."
