Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Charleston edges Campbell, 1-0

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Campbell women's soccer fought hard but came up short in a 1-0 defeat to conference foe College of Charleston Sunday afternoon at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriot Point.

The Camels now sit at 2-5-4 and 0-3-3 in CAA play. The Cougars improved to 2-6-2 (2-2-1).

Charleston found the net in the 34th minute. Bubbles Dever and Bella Antonio linked up and found Abby Fisher, who slotted her shot past goalkeeper JLo Varada.

The Cougars maintained control throughout the match, outshooting the Camels, 18-5. Campbell did have the advantage on corner kicks, earning six to Charleston's five.

Sage Dougherty and Kaleigh Backlund recorded two shots on goal for Campbell. Varada finished the game with five saves.

"We are fighting as hard as we can game in and game out. This week will be helpful as we have more time to regenerate and to train. We will keep grinding and prepare well for the next one."

 

UP NEXT

The Camels have a bye on Thursday's matchday and will next take the pitch on Sunday when they host UNCW at 2:00 p.m. at Eakes Athletics Complex. The game will be broadcast on FloSports.
