WILMINGTON, N.C. - Four different players scored as UNCW defeated Campbell 4-0 Saturday night at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
Campbell drops to 1-2-4 overall and 0-2-2 in CAA play. UNCW, who is ranked fourth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region poll, improves to 5-2-2, 1-1-1 in conference games.Â
Ethan Newsome put the Seahawks on the board in the 3rd minute as Omar Aboutaleb's free kick connected with Josef Hefele. Hefele's attempt on goal hit off the crossbar and back into play for Ethan Newsome who headed it in.
The Seahawks added another goal in the 23rd provided by Pep Casas.
UNCW tallied two more goals following halftime in the 54th and 56th minutes.
Adam Yousfi led Campbell with three shots on the night including an attempt off a free kick that went just left of the goal in the 51st minute.
The Seahawks finished with 18-6 edge in shots, 9-4 in attempts on goal and both sides finished even 2-2 on corners. Jacob Randolph made four saves for UNCW while Samy Slimi had three saves and Sean Ellis added two for Campbell.
The Camels return to Eakes Athletics Complex on Tuesday to host nationally ranked #14/9 Wake Forest.
