STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Campbell women's soccer opened their inaugural CAA campaign with a strong defensive effort in a 0-0 draw against Stony Brook at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium Thursday evening.
The Camels now sit at 2-2-2 (0-0-1 CAA) on the season, and the Seawolves moved to 2-1-3 (0-0-1).
Campbell goalkeeper JLo Varada recorded a season-high five saves for the Fighting Camels, as the Seawolves recorded 16 shots on the night.
Along with Varada, defenders Meghan Bernetti, Riley Terrill and Olivia Neal played all 90 minutes in the match. Neal and Terrill each had goal-line clearances to deny Stony Brook goals from set pieces in the 34th and 80th minute, respectively.
Midfielders Amber Liston and Cazzi Norgren each recorded two shots in a match that saw the Camels force Stony Brook into three saves, all by Nicolette Pasquarella.

"We've gone on the road, played a good team and took a point away. We are proud of the effort and the mentality to compete. This is a steep learning curve for this group, and we saw growth again from several players. We have to learn to take our chances better going forward."
