BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell fell to Elon 45-44 in a tightly-contested game Friday night at Gore Arena.
The Camels fall to 7-7 overall and 0-3 in CAA play while the Phoenix move to 5-11 overall and 1-2 in conference games.
Shy Tuelle led all scorers with 12 points and had a shot to win at the end before it hit off the front of the iron.
Christabel Ezumah recorded her fifth double-double of the season behind 11 points and 12 boards while Gemma Nunez, Gianni Boone and Svenia Nurenberg provided six points each.
Elon was led by 10 points each from Vanessa Taylor and Iycez Adams, the latter of whom scored eight in the second half alone.
Campbell jumped out to a 16-9 lead at the end of the first period and led 28-24 at the half. The Phoenix opened the second half on a 9-2 run and led until Tuelle's lay-up gave CU a 40-39 lead with 7:21 left in the fourth.
Adams gave Elon the lead for good with 3:04 left as both teams combined to shoot 0-for-9 across the final 3:04.
Elon shot 31.6 percent (18-of-57) from the floor, 8.3 percent (1-of-12) from three and converted just 42.1 percent (8-of-19) of its free throws. Campbell made 34.0 percent (16-of-47) from the field and 17.6 percent (3-of-17) from three while made 9-of-13 free throws.
Tuelle, who now has 1,246 career points, moved up to No. 12 on the program's all-time scoring list surpassing Sara Moore (1997-00) and Denise Ford (1985-89).
Campbell returns to Gore Arena on Sunday in a 2:00 PM tip against Towson.
