HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Teddy Baker scored the lone goal of the match as #21 Hofstra defeated Campbell 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Captains Field.
Campbell (6-4-4, 2-2-1) drops its second-straight match as the nationally-ranked Pride (9-3-1, 4-2-0) snap a two-match skid.
A free kick was granted to Hofstra near the top of the penalty arc in front of the CU box in the 9th minute. Baker went on goal with his free kick, putting the Pride ahead.
Campbell had its best look of the day 10 minutes later on a counter. Marco Wright dribbled down the right side to the top corner of the box, firing a shot on goal that forced a leaping save on the ball that went over the bar and out for a corner.
Both sides finished even in shots at 15 apiece with Hofstra holding a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. Campbell finished with seven corners to six for the hosts. All of Campbell's starting field players took at least one shot.
The Camels are off for the next week, returning to action next Saturday, Oct. 19 against Charleston at 7 PM.
