BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell volleyball kept each set close, but ultimately fell to North Carolina A&T in three sets, 25-20, 25-22 and 25-21, Sunday afternoon at Gore Arena.
The Camels now sit at 3-17 overall and 1-9 in CAA play, while the Aggies improved to 11-7 (6-4 CAA).
Tyne Ross led the Aggies with 16 kills, and Leonor Polezzi contributed 30 assists to hand the Camels their third consecutive loss.
The Aggies held on to an early lead in set one, ballooning it to 18-10 before ultimately winning by five.
Campbell had a better run of play to start the second set, resulting in a 21-16 lead. The Aggies then scored four straight points to get themselves back within striking distance, and after the Camels scored one more, N.C. A&T scored the final five points in the set.
Gwen Wolkow recorded 15 kills to lead the team for the second straight day, and
Maddie Converse and
Ashley Artura combined for 29 assists.
The third set was a nail-biter as well, as neither team scored more than two consecutive points for the first 37 points that saw the Aggies lead, 19-18. N.C. A&T then rallied off five straight points to reach match point, ultimately putting it away after three points from Campbell.
The Camels hit the road for matches against Hampton on Thursday the 24
th and Friday the 25
th. Each match begins at 6:00 and will be streamed on FloCollege.
