Camels allow three first-half goals, fall on the road to Northeastern

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Campbell women's soccer dropped their road matchup against Northeastern Sunday afternoon at Parsons Field by a score of 4-0.

The loss drops the Camels to 5-8-3 and 3-5 in CAA play with just two matches remaining. The Huskies improved to 2-8-6 (2-3-3 CAA).

The Huskies started the scoring in the 11th minute. Addison Davis sent a ball towards the box from midfield and past the Campbell goalkeeper. Avery Levangie slotted the ball away to an empty net to put Northeastern on top.

Levangie scored again in the 24th minute when she was wide open in the box and received a through ball from Jessie Hunt.

The Huskies scored their third goal of the first half in the 44th minute, as Jayden Newkirk rose high and headed in a corner kick off the foot of Lughano Nyondo.

Northeastern maintained control for much of the first half, outshooting the Camels, 12-4.

The final goal of the match was scored in the 52nd minute by Sofie Fox. She found herself at the end of a cross from Maggie Cochran. The Huskies ended the game with a 17-6 shot advantage and a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Sierra Vance and JLo Varada split time in goal for the Camels, and Alyssa Tucker, Kaleigh Backlund and Emely Rubio each recorded a shot on goal.

Campbell returns to the field for a matchup against league-leading Elon on the road this Thursday. The match begins at 7:00 and will be streamed on FloCollege.
