BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Tai-Reece Chisholm scored the lone goal of the match as Campbell defeated Winthrop 1-0 Tuesday night at Eakes Athletics Complex.
Campbell snaps a 3-match skid and improves to 7-5-4 overall while Winthrop falls to 4-9-1.Â
After a scoreless first half, the Camels nearly went ahead in the 47th minute as Ethan Roberts fired a shot off the left post. The ball was played back into the box for Luc Lavielle who had his header saved.Â
The Camels eventually broke through in the 74th minute as Ethan Roberts sent a ball in from the right side. Teva Lossec, with his back to the end line, headed the ball into the middle of the box for Chisholm who knocked it in.Â
Campbell posted 22 shots on the night, its most in a match since totaling 23 against NC Wesleyan on earlier this season, and limited the Eagles to seven shots including just two on goal.Â
Winthrop had its best look on goal in the 83rd minute as a cross from Jake Gusler skipped across the front of the goal for Ricardo Ferreira who shot high.
Max Leviton made his fifth start of the season in the CU nets, making two saves for his third shutout of the season.Â
Campbell heads to William & Mary for its final road match of the regular season on Saturday at 7 PM.
