Camels sweep series at Hampton

HAMPTON, VA. - The Fighting Camels completed the weekend sweep at Hampton with a four-set win Friday night. The victories were Campbell's first back-to-back wins of the season.

Friday's win improves Campbell's record to 5-17, 3-9 in the CAA. 

Campbell jumped ahead with a 25-17 first set victory. Aley Clent led the way early with four kills and three digs in the opening frame. The defense was steady early as well, holding the Lady Pirates to hitting .027.

Hampton drew even with a 25-22 second set. The Camels trailed by as many as eight at 16-8, but stormed back to tie things at 17 all. Hampton had an answer though as the Camels never led in the frame and hosts hung on for the win.

The Camels found the rhythm in the third set with a 25-12 victory. Campbell got it done on both sides of the ball, hitting .350 and, and held the Lady Pirates to -.071. 

Campbell closed out the night with a 25-18 fourth set. Victoria Tupy put the final touch on the win with her 11th kill of the evening, her second straight night with 10+ kills. 

Aley Clent led the Campbell attack with 12 kills. Maddie Lambers added eight without an error to hit .571 on the night, adding to her excellent weekend. Gwen Wolkow led the squad with 11 digs. Ashley Artura turned in a double-double with a team-high 22 assists along with 10 digs.

The Camels return home next weekend to face UNCW. The series begins Friday night at 6 p.m. and continues Saturday at 3 p.m.
