Camels top NC A&T for first CAA win 21-7

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Sincere Brown hauled in 150 yards and two touchdowns receiving, leading Campbell to a 21-7 Homecoming win over visiting North Carolina A&T on Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.

The Camels (3-5, 1-3 CAA) welcomed a sellout crowd of 5,591 to the Homecoming victory, picking up their first CAA win of the 2024 season, and Campbell's second consecutive win in the series over the Aggies (1-7, 0-4 CAA). Saturday's sellout marked the 25th in Barker-Lane Stadium history (since 2008).

Campbell found the endzone on two of its first three drives, including a 64-yard strike from Chad Mascoe, Jr. to Brown on the game's opening possession, to take a 14-0 first quarter lead.

Ger-Cari Caldwell's fourth quarter TD cut the Campbell lead to 14-7 with 11:18 to go in the fourth before Campbell answered with another Brown touchdown, this time a 53-yard pass from Mike Chandler II. The Campbell defense then intercepted A&T passes on the Aggies final two drives to seal the win.

Brown ended the night with five catches for a career-high 150 yards and two scores, his fourth time over the century mark and second multi-TD game this season. Chandler completed 8-of-12 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown, adding 57 yards rushing with another TD, while JJ Cowan rushed for a team-high 74 yards on 11 carries.

The CU defense, meanwhile, limited the Aggies to just 92 yards rushing, a season-low for the Camels, and a single score, its fewest points allowed to a conference opponent since 2018 (11/10/18 at Presbyterian, W 34-6).

Jojo Pace and Jalen Brooks both tallied nine tackles and broke up passes, while George Wilson notched 2.0 sacks and three total tackles in the win. Da'Quan Johnson and Lakeem Rudolph also intercepted passes for CU.

For the Aggies, Justin Fomby completed 20-of-40 passes for 185 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, while Cameren Dalrymple ran for 75 yards on 16 carries. Henry Daniel posted nine tackles with 3.0 going for loss, including 2.0 sacks for A&T.

The Camels head to nearby Elon for the first time for another CAA matchup (2:00 p.m. kickoff). Campbell returns home on November 9, hosting nationally-ranked Richmond.
