BUIES CREEK, N.C.- Cross country will be traveling to Elon, N.C., on Friday to compete in the CAA Championships. The men's 8K will start at 10 a.m. with the women's 6k right after at 11 a.m.
The CAA has 13 teams competing in the women's championship - Campbell, Charleston,Delaware, Elon, Hampton, Hofstra, Monmouth, North Carolina A&T, Northeastern, Stony Brook, Towson, UNCW and William and Mary - and 11 in the men's, all teams above except Delaware and Towson. Elon has won five years in a row for the women, and Stony Brook has taken home the win for the men the past two years.
Ranked Teams in the CAA
There are multiple regionally-ranked teams in the CAA for both men's and women's cross country.
Stony Brook (No. 13 in Northeast Region) is one of three ranked teams for the men, along with William and Mary (No. 15 in Southeast Region) and Monmouth (No. 15 in Mid-Atlantic Region).
There are five regionally-ranked teams on the women's side and they are, William and Mary (No. 11 in Southeast Region), Northeastern (No. 6 in Northeast Region), Elon (No. 15 in Southeast Region), Monmouth (No. 15 in Mid-Atlantic Region) and Stony Brook (No. 15 in Northeast Region).
The top 15 runners will earn All-CAA honors.
This is only Campbell's second year competing in the CAA. At the 2023 CAA Championship,
Logan Ades finished first for the men with a time of 27:02.50, followed by
Hudson Hayes (28:05.80) and
Jake Stanley (28:07.30).
Emily Pierce finished second for the Campbell women with a time of 24:49.80.Â
