BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will welcome nearby North Carolina Central on Saturday, October 5, closing out a three-game homestand at Barker-Lane Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. for the Fighting Camels' regular season nonconference finale.
The game, presented by Christie Yarbrough with RE/MAX United, will be Military Appreciation Day at CU.

HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF
At Saturday's game, Campbell will be collecting donations for Hurricane Helene relief for Western North Carolina. Donation bins will be located at the East Gate of Barker-Lane Stadium, in conjunction with a campus-wide drive this week in partnership with Baptists on Mission, with transport provided by Jerry Milton and Southeastern Interiors.
Items collected will include:
- Unscented laundry pods
- Tall kitchen garbage bags (unscented)
- Paper products (such as paper plates, paper towels and toilet paper)
- Baby wipes
Donation bins are also located in the Harris Student Union, Wallace Building, Butler Chapel, Lundy-Fetterman Building, Leon Levine Hall, the Alumni House (for alumni drop off only) and the Wiggins Law School. Future collection needs will be communicated in the coming days at
Campbell.edu.
CLEAR BAG POLICY
Campbell University Athletics implements a clear bag policy that regulates the size and type of bag that may be carried into Campbell Athletics facilities, including Barker-Lane Stadium. Fans are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new policies before arriving at the venue to minimize time spent searching bags at security checkpoints.
Bags that are approved include:
• Clear tote bags made of plastic, vinyl or PVC that do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″
• One-gallon clear plastic zip-style bags
• Small purses or clutch bags that do not exceed 6.5″ x 4.5"
• Medical or diaper bags must be accompanied by a child
Bags are that not permitted include:
• Backpacks
• Printed pattern or tinted plastic bags
• Drawstring bags
• Fanny packs
• Camera or binocular cases
• Large purses or bags
PEPSI TAILGATE TOWN IS BACK
Pepsi Tailgate Town is back for the 2024 season for football game days at Barker-Lane Stadium.
The football pregame experience, which debuted in 2023, is back and better than ever, featuring the same great, convenient location as last year, just outside the Barker-Lane Stadium gates.
Come hang out with other Fighting Camels before the game in the tailgate lots between Barker-Lane Stadium and Stadium View Apartments, where Campbell will host activities for the whole family, including food trucks, inflatables, yard games, music and face painting, as well as events from local businesses and organizations.
Pepsi Tailgate Town fires up three hours before kickoff for all six Campbell home dates this fall, closing just prior to kickoff.
This week's Pepsi Tailgate Town will feature a special appearance from the United State Army Special Forces, Fort Liberty, and the National Guard as part of Campbell's Military Appreciation event.
There will also be food trucks from Redneck BBQ Lab and the RBL Taco Truck, as well as other fun featuring inflatables for kids, face painting, balloon art, a live DJ, and yard games.
Campbell's men's basketball team will be in attendance, available for autographs and pictures from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Sincere Brown hauled in 133 yards and three touchdowns to lift Campbell over visiting Delaware State 44-41. The Camels improved to 2-3, securing their first home win of the season, while Delaware State fell to 1-4 overall.
Campbell trailed 41-37 with 1:56 to go after Jaden Sutton's 15-yard touchdown before rallying for a five-play, 79-yard march that included a 25-yard pass to
VJ Wilkins and a 27-yarder to
RJ Jackson along the sideline to set up Brown's go-ahead TD, his third of the day, a two-yard strike from
Chad Mascoe, Jr. with 42 seconds remaining.
The touchdown was the fifth lead change of the fourth quarter alone, and seventh of the game. The Hornets drove to the Campbell 32 yard line in just four plays, but Michel Bergeron's 49-yard field goal try came up short, securing the 44-41 win for the Camels.
Brown posted a career-high 133 yards and three touchdowns on five catches for the Camels, while Wilkins gathered seven catches for 115 yards in the win.
Mascoe went over the 300-yard passing mark for the second time this season, completing 18-for-26 throws for 323 yards and three touchdowns.
Aiden Valdez gathered his third touchdown in two games, while
JJ Cowan punched in his first career touchdown, totaling 42 yards on 12 carries.
Jojo Pace registered 10 tackles with an interception to lead the CU defense, while
Jalen Brooks added eight stops.
Elijah Hawk also totaled 1.5 tackles for loss, including one of Campbell's two sacks on the day.
LEADING THE CAMELS
Chad Mascoe, Jr. has thrown for 1,113 yards (222.6 per game) with seven touchdowns, competing 65.8 percent of his attempts, while also rushing for a score.
Sincere Brown owns 491 yards receiving with five TDs, ranking second in the FCS in both categories, while
Mark Biggins has rushed for 171 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Defensively,
Jalen Brooks and
Jojo Pace have both notched 41 tackles, combining for three interceptions, while
CJ Tillman has collected 40 stops tackles, including 3.0 tackles for loss and two sacks with a forced fumble.
THE MATCHUP: NC CENTRAL
The Eagles are 3-2 on the season, coming off back-to-back wins over North Carolina A&T, 66-24, and Norfolk State, 37-10, in their MEAC opener.
QB Walker Harris is averaging 181.0 passing yards per game with nine touchdowns on the year, while the duo of Joaquin Davis and Markell Quick have combined for 530 yards and five TDs receiving. J'Mari Taylor has also rushed for seven scores, total 451 yards on the ground. Defensively, Jaki Brevard owns a team-high 37 tackles.
Saturday will mark the third straight season, and third all-time meeting, between the Camels and Eagles. Campbell claimed the initial matchup 48-18 in Buies Creek in 2022 before then-No. 15 ranked NCCU took last season's game 49-48 in overtime in Durham.
