BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell's
Sincere Brown,
Jalen Brooks and
Bobby Cleary have been named to 2024 All-CAA teams, announced today by the conference.
Brown was named First Team All-CAA at wide receiver, while Brooks claimed Second Team honors as a linebacker. Cleary also took honorable mention accolades.
Monmouth QB Derek Robertson was named CAA Offensive Player of the Year, while New Hampshire's Josiah Silver was named Defensive Player of the Year, and Special Teams Player of the Year went to Chandler Brayboy from Elon.
Stony Brook's Billy Cosh was named Coach of the Year, with Villanova's David Avit (offensive) and Mattew Traynor (defensive) taking top rookie honors. Elon safety Caleb Curtain also earned the Chuck Boone Leadership Award.
Brown became Campbell's third 1,000 yard receiver in program history, totaling 1,028 receiving yards and a school record 12 touchdown catches. A Charleston, S.C. native, Brown was one of two 1,000 receivers in the CAA this year, ranking second in both yards and TDs in the league. He also ranked fourth nationally in receiving touchdowns and 12
th in receiving yards. His 12 touchdown catches made up half of Campbell's single-season record-tying 24 passing scores for the season.
Posting at least four catches in 11 of 12 games, Brown went over 100 yards five times this season, while scoring a touchdown in eight different games. He caught two 50+ yard touchdown catches in two separate games this season, the only Camel to accomplish that feat more than once in a career. Brown notched a career-high 150 yards with two touchdowns on five catches in a win over North Carolina A&T, and collected three TDs with 133 yards on five grabs in a win over Delaware State.
Brooks set a school single-season record for tackles, posting 118 stops on the season. The first year Camel ranked second in the CAA in total tackles and 13
th overall in the FCS, while leading the conference in fumble recoveries with three. The Knightdale, N.C. native added 8.5 TFL, including 4.0 sacks, to go along with an interception, a forced fumble and four pass breakups.
A North Carolina transfer, Brooks led the CU defense in tackles, tackles for loss and fumbles recovered, while ranked second in sacks, starting all 12 games for the Camels at linebacker. He tallied four double figure tackle games, including a career-high 19 stops at William & Mary, the second most in Campbell single game history, with 3.0 stops for loss, also making 12 tackles with an interception in Campbell's win at then-No. 17 Western Carolina, the program's first win over a ranked opponent in its history, earning CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Cleary, meanwhile, was named honorable mention All-CAA for the second straight season. The Slinger, Wisc. native has handled nearly every long snap for the Camels over the last two seasons, totaling two tackles this year while downing multiple punts.
A preseason All-America and All-CAA pick, Cleary helped Campbell special teams make 12 field goals, two makes shy of the single season school record, as well as record 14 fair catches on punts and 13 punts downed inside the 20.
Campbell finished the 2024 season at 3-9 overall and 1-7 in CAA play, taking on the 10
th toughest schedule in the FCS.
