Georgia State defeats Campbell 58-43

ATLANTA, GA. - Mahogany Matthews scored 17 points to lead Georgia State past Campbell 58-43 on Thanksgiving Day at the GSU Convocation Center. 

Campbell (5-3) finishes the GSU Thanksgiving Tournament 2-1 after picking up wins over Furman and Purdue Fort Wayne in each of the previous two days while the Panthers (5-3) pick up their second win of the tourney.

Georgia State shot 52.2 percent (12-of-23) in the first half but were held without a field goal for the final 2:22 of the second quarter. The Panthers extended their lead to as many as 19 after a 15-0 run through the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth. 

Courtney Dahlquist led Campbell with 10 points while Jasmine Felton added eight points and five boards. 

Kaleigh Addie scored seven of her 12 points in the second quarter off the bench while Mikyla Tolivert scored seven of her 11 in the third. Montgomery made 8-of-11 shots from the field, led all players with eight boards and added two blocks. 

CU shot 28.8 percent (15-of-52) from the floor and 25.9 percent (7-of-27) from three while the Panthers shot 41.8 percent (23-of-55) overall and 22.2 percent (6-of-27) from behind the arc. 

The Panthers held a 38-32 advantage on the boards and outscored Campbell 30-16 in the paint. 

Campbell returns to action next Wednesday in a 11:30 AM tip-off at Wake Forest.
