Wake Forest uses strong second half to defeat Campbell 63-46

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C - Malaya Cowles scored 21 points off the bench and Wake Forest used a strong second half to knock off Campbell 62-46 Wednesday afternoon at LJVM Coliseum. 

Campbell (5-4) led by 10 at halftime and entered the fourth quarter trailing by one before Wake Forest (6-3) used an 18-0 run to close out the game. 

The Camels led by as many as 11 in a first half in which they shot 50.0 percent (15-of-30) and forced nine turnovers. The Demon Deacons answered after halftime with a 13-0 run in the third period and outscored the Camels 18-2 in the fourth. 

Gemma Nunez scored 10 points and added six assists, three boards and four steals for the Camels. Gianni Boone added 10 points, four boards, three steals and one block. 

Cowles made 9-of-10 shots overall and made a perfect 6-of-6 in the second half while adding four assists. Elise Williams added 14 points while Demeara Hinds had 11 points and 12 boards. 

Wake Forest made 50.0 percent (27-of-54) of its shots from the floor, made 4-of-10 from three and outscored Campbell 44-26 in the paint.

Campbell takes a break for exams before returning to action in its annual Education Day game against Guilford College on Dec. 16 at 11:30 AM.
