Camels hang on to beat Green Bay 72-66

GREEN BAY, WIS. - The Fighting Camels held off a late surge by Green Bay to earn the 72-66 win Saturday afternoon at the Resch Center. The Camels never trailed in the contest, but saw a 21-point lead dwindle to just two late in the second half before hanging on for the victory.

The win moves Campbell to 4-4 on the season while Green Bay drops to 2-6.

Jasin Sinani, a Wisconsin native, posted a game-high 22 points in front of his hometown crowd. The senior has now posted three 20-point games in Campbell's last four outings.

The Campbell defense largely held Anthony Roy in check on the other end. Roy entered as the nation's leading scorer and finished with 20 on 6-19 from the floor and just 2-11 from downtown.

Campbell got off to a hot start with back-to-back triples out of the gate from Cam Gregory and Sinani to go up 6-0. Sinani led with 12 points and five rebounds at the half to help Campbell to a six-point halftime lead.

The Camels threatened to run away with the game thanks to an 18-0 run early in the second half to push the lead to as many as 21. Green Bay responded as Roy scored 12 of his 20 in the second half as the Phoenix climbed back into it.

With the lead down to four with 4:30 to go, Duggan hit the biggest of his three second-half three-pointers to halt the run. Later at just a two-point lead, the defense forced a steal that led to a Gregory runout and lay in to go back up four, and the Phoenix wouldn't get any closer. Campbell went 4-6 at the line down the stretch to salt it away for the 72-66 win.

Sinani led four Camels in double figures today, joined by Gregory, Duggan, and Bragi Gudmundsson. Sinani and Dorsey each pulled in eight rebounds, with Dorsey handing out a game-high five assists along with three steals.

The turnover battle was pretty even, 12-11 in favor of Green Bay, but the Camels capitalized and outscored Green Bay 22-10 off turnovers. The Camels got out for 16 fast-break points and picked up 27 points from the bench.

Saturday marked the end of a four-game road trip with the Camels going 2-2 in the process.

The Camels now return home for their first home game in nearly three weeks to face Coastal Carolina on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. That one will be streamed on FloCollege.
