Camels fall in four at Northeastern

BOSTON - Campbell fell in four sets Saturday afternoon to Northeastern inside the Cabot Center.

The loss drops Campbell to 6-19, 4-11 in the CAA. Northeastern kept its postseason hopes alive  and moves to 9-14, 7-8 in the league.

Northeastern went ahead early with a 25-16 first set victory. Gwen Wolkow led the way with three kills as CU hit just .067 in the frame. Four different Huskies were part of a balanced attack with three kills each to help the hosts win the opener.

Campbell rolled through the second set to take it 25-18. The Camels took their first lead at 5-4 and didn't trail again in the frame. Heytvelt, Tupy, and Lambers all had big sets with four kills each.

The third set played much closer than the 25-17 score indicates, with Campbell trailing by just a point at 18-17. The Huskies hit the gas late to close the set with a 7-0 run to retake the lead in the match. The late charged featured four kills and an ace for Northeastern.

Northeastern closed things out with another 25-17 win. This time it was flipped with Campbell falling behind early at 10-2 and was unable to work back into the set.

Campbell hit .148 on the day, but allowed the Huskies to hit .238.

CU was led by Gwen Wolkow with 8 kills, Riley Dean with 14 digs, and Artura and Converse with 19 assists apiece. Hailey Heytvelt was solid at the net with five blocks.

The Camels and Huskies meet again tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Capmbell's final road contest of the season. That one will be streamed on FloCollege.
