CHARLESTON, S.C. - A big second half propelled the Camels to an 86-58 win over The Citadel Thursday night. Up just six at the half, Campbell pushed the lead to as many as 33 with a minute left in the ballgame.
The win gets Campbell to 5-5 on the year, while The Citadel falls to 5-4.
Tonight's victory is Campbell's largest non-con road win in the program's D1 history, and the fourth largest D1 road win. It is also the first time Campbell has won two true road games by 20 or more points in its D1 era.
Campbell received big performances up and down the lineup with five Camels in double figures.
Nolan Dorsey led the way with a career-high 19 points.
Terren Frank added 13 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists.
The Camels took care of the ball all night and dished out 21 assists to only six turnovers.
The Camels and Bulldogs went back and forth early and saw Campbell lead 39-33 at halftime thanks to Dorsey's 11 first-half points. Frank stuffed the stat sheet early with nine points and eight boards in the opening 20 minutes.
Campbell raced out to an 8-0 run to begin the second half and never looked back. Campbell shot 7-12 from beyond the arc in the second and 56% from the floor. That offense complimented a defense that held the Bulldogs to 34% in the second half and forced 10 second-half turnovers. Campbell's largest lead, 33 points, followed an
Elijah Walsh triple with a minute to play.
Thirteen Camels saw the court tonight as Campbell received 22 bench points. The Camels were able to get out and run off 14 Citadel turnovers to outscore the hosts 13-4 in fast break points, none louder than
Frank's second-half dunk.
CU finished 12-27 from distance to tie a season-high in made triples, and a perfect 14-14 at the foul line.
Campbell now awaits a trip to Baltimore to face Morgan State on Sunday. That one tips off at 2 p.m.
