Camels defeat Guilford 87-41 on Education Day

CU knocks down season-high 13 three pointers

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell scored the game's first 11 points and never trailed Monday in an 87-41 win over Guilford on Wanda Watkins Court at Gore Arena.

In the Camels' annual Education Day played in front of nearly 2800 fifth-grade students and elementary school staff members, the Camels (6-4) led the Division III Quakers by as many as 48 points and by double figures for the final 37:16.

Four Campbell players finished in double figures as the Camels led 48-23 at halftime and 71-33 after three quarters.  Freshman Ciara Alexander and junior Gianni Boone led Campbell with 16 points apiece, while sophomore Hadleigh Dill added 12 and freshman Olivia Tucker 10 for the Camels, who knocked down a season-high 13 three-pointers.

Courtney McMillan was the lone Guilford player to finish in double figures with 13 points.  The Quakers made only 1-of-11 three-point shots.

Coming off an 11-day break for final exams, Campbell hit 32-of-69 shots overall (.464), including 13-of-29 threes (.448), held a 49-29 advantage on the boards and limited Guilford to just 14-of-54 from the floor (.264).

Monday's attendance (2,845) was the sixth highest for a women's basketball game since Gore Arena opened in 2008-09.

Alexander came off the bench to hit a season-high scoring total on 7-of-10 shooting, while adding 12 rebounds for her first career double-double.  Freshman Jasmine Felton also pulled down a season-best 10 boards for the Camels, who scored 30 points off 22 Guilford turnovers.

All 10 Camels who saw action scored and nine tallied assists as the Camels had 23 on 32 made shots.

The Camels return to action on Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. tip-off at Virginia Tech.
