Campbell heads to Wake Forest on Hump Day

11th all-time matchup against the Demon Deacons set for 11:30 AM on ACC Network Extra

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell heads to Winston-Salem, N.C. for a 11:30 AM tip-off at Wake Forest at LJVM Coliseum. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

NATIONALLY RANKED DEFENSE

  • Campbell is the only program in the nation to be ranked in the top-25 in scoring defense in each of the past eight seasons
  • In the Ronny Fisher era (since 2016-17) Campbell has held 42 opponents to 40 points or less and 105 opponents to 50 points or less
  • Last season Campbell ranked:
    • 8th nationally and 1st in the CAA in scoring defense (55.1 points per game allowed)
    • 31st nationally in field goal percentage defense (37.1%)
    • 10th nationally in three-point percentage defense (26.5%)
    • Additionally, Campbell ranked 23rd nationally giving up only 13.8 fouls per game

LAST TIME OUT

  • Campbell played three games in three days at the GSU Thanksgiving Tournament in Atlanta
  • Campbell opened the tournament by defeating Furman 82-72 on Tuesday behind 17 points from Olivia Tucker and a career-best 11 assists from Audrey Fuller
  • On Wednesday, the Camels came back down by 13 in the 4Q to knock off Purdue Fort Wayne 71-67 in overtime. Five Camels scored in double-figures, led by 15 points from Gianni Boone. Fuller secured her first career double-double with 11 points and a career-best 12 boards. Campbell held Purdue Fort Wayne to just five points in the fourth quarter in the win
  • CU rounded out the tournament with a 58-43 loss to hosts Georgia State on Thanksgiving Day

  • Wake Forest is 5-3 overall and are coming off a 73-52 win over Gardner-Webb on Sunday
  • Tamia Jones leads a balanced scoring attack for the Demon Deacons averaging 10.4 points and 5.1 boards while Rylie Theuerkauf is averaging 10.1 points
  • Megan Gebbis leads Wake Forest in her third season at the helm

  • Campbell faces Wake Forest for the 11th time ever on Hump Day with the all-time series tied 5-5 between both sides
  • The Demon Deacons have won the past three matchups including a 74-46 win in Winston-Salem in 2019
  • The Camels, who won four of the first five matchups in the series, last won in 1997, 67-62 at Carter Gym

  • The Camels, who trailed by as many as 15 in the second half, held the Mastodons to just five points in the final period of regulation
  • Five Camels finished in double-figures led by 15 points from Gianni Boone while Audrey Fuller secured her first career double-double with 11 points and 12 boards
  • It marked the second-largest 4Q comeback in program history (15 pts at High Point, 2019-20)

NUNEZ DOES IT ALL

  • Gemma Nunez is currently averaging 5+ points, rebounds and assists 
  • She ranks 22nd nationally averaging 5.9 assists and 48th averaging 2.75 steals
  • Nunez has dished out 10 assists twice in games vs. High Point and Miami and scored a career-best 15 pts at Western Carolina
  • A junior, Nunez has recorded 2 or more steals in every game this season

BOARD WORK FOR FULLER

  • Senior guard Audrey Fuller has set multiple career-highs in rebounding so far this season
  • The Brisbane, Australia native tied her career-high with 9 boards against Mount Olive in the season opener and set new career-bests with 10 rebounds against High Point and then 11 rebounds against ETSU
  • Fuller secured her first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 12 boards against Purdue Fort Wayne

DAHLQUIST FROM DEEP

  • Senior forward Courtney Dahlquist leads the Camels and ranks 2nd in the CAA with 18 threes on a CAA-best 40.9 percent (18-of-44) shooting 
  • Dahlquist has scored in double-figures in three straight games and in six of the past seven outings
  • She poured in a career-high 17 points behind 5 threes in Campbell's win over ETSU 

HEAD COACH RONNY FISHER

  • A three-time Big South Coach of the Year, Ronny Fisher enters his ninth season at the helm of Campbell women's basketball and 17th as a head coach overall
  • Over the previous eight seasons, Campbell has won 152 games for an average of 19 wins per season (152-90)
  • Fisher enters the 2024-25 season with 249 career wins (249-234), which ranks 2nd most amongst active CAA coaches trailing only Charleston's Robin Harmony with 317 wins (317-183)
  • Under Fisher, the Camels claimed the 2019-20 and 2021-22 Big South regular season titles and finished as Big South tournament runners-up in 2019, 2021 and 2022
  • Fisher has also led Campbell to its first-ever WNIT berth in 2021-22 along with two other postseason appearances in the WBI. He helped the Camels claim their first ever postseason win in the 2019 WBI
  • Previously served as head coach at Presbyterian (2008-16)
