Camels roll past Stony Brook 95-77

BUIES CREEK – Everything seemed to be going right for the Camels Saturday afternoon in a 95-77 win over Stony Brook. All five starters scored in double figures thanks to Campbell handing out a season-high 30 assists on 38 made FG on the afternoon.

The win gets Campbell to 12-13, 6-6 as Campbell continues to split every conference weekend this season. Stony Brook drops to 13-12, 6-6 in the league.

Campbell's 95 points are its most against a D1 opponent since scoring 97 in the 2018-19 season opener against UNCW.

Laurynas Vaistaras orchestrated the offense this afternoon with a 10-point, 10-assist double-double in Campbell's first 10-assist game since at least the 2015-16 season. The senior finished with 10 assists to just one turnover. Campbell's 30 total assists tie the most by any CAA team this season, and are the most by a CAA team against a D1 opponent.

Campbell shot 64% in each half and nearly 50% from distance, going 10-21 from downtown. The 64% shooting is CU's 10th highest single-game mark in program history.

It wasn't perfect from the jump as Campbell fell behind by 10 just 2:30 into the game. Campbell flipped a switch following the first media timeout and exploded for 52 points in the first half, the most in a half this season. The Camels were stripping the nets early at an 8-14 clip from three in the first half with triples hit by six different players Three Camels were already in double figures by halftime, led by Sinani with 12 to give Campbell a 52-38 halftime lead.

A backdoor dish to Dell'Orso for a dunk picked up right where things left off to begin the second half as Campbell never faltered. The lead was pushed to as many as 23 with 9:36 to go. Vaistaras really saw the floor well in the second half, with eight of his 10 assists coming after halftime. Dell'Orso led the scoring in the second half with 13 points on 6-9 from the floor.

Omar Harris had the best game of his Cambpell career, with a career-high nine points to go with two rebounds and two assists. He also connected for his first three-pointer and finished an and-one through a flagrant foul.

Dean Noll and Aaron Clarke led the way for the Seawolves with 16 apiece.

Campbell heads north next weekend for a pair of games at Monmouth and Drexel. Both games will be broadcast on FloHoops.
