BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The winner of five of its last six, Campbell will travel to East Carolina on Saturday, facing the Pirates at 2:00 p.m.
The Camels (5-3) are coming off a comeback win on the road at Coastal Carolina, with
Mariana Ossa's 6-4 third set victory clinching the 4-3 win.
The Camels trailed 3-2 before
Lily Chitambar tied the match, rallying from a first set loss, 6-4, to win 6-3, 6-1 over CCU's Kata Foldeak. Ossa, meanwhile, split the first two sets with her opponent, Maria Mitrache, 7-5, 2-6, claiming the final stanza 6-4 to seal the Campbell win.
The Chanticleers swept doubles action and built a 3-2 lead on 6-3, 6-3 singles wins from Jesse Hollins and Cecile Morin prior to the CU rally.
Mialy Ranaivo (6-4, 6-3) and
Eeva Ristola (6-3, 6-1) also picked up singles victories for the Camels.
ECU is 4-3 on the season, winning four straight, including last Saturday's 7-0 win over Chowan.
Next up, Campbell will host its next two contests at home, welcoming St. John's (Feb. 28) and Gardner-Webb (March 2).
