#21 Campbell falls on the road at #22 Coastal Carolina

Box Score

CONWAY, S.C. – Campbell's first road test of the year ended in a 9-2 defeat to Coastal Carolina Tuesday evening at Springs Brooks Stadium.

The No. 21 ranked Camels now sit at 6-2 on the year, and the No. 22 Chanticleers improved to 6-2.

Cole Peschl started the game for the Fighting Camels and came out strong, facing only 10 batters over the first three innings.

The scoring began in the fourth inning, when Barthol hit a solo home run over the right field wall. The Chanticleers followed that up with two more runs off a bases loaded double by Books.

The Camels added one in the fifth by way of a solo home run from Chandler Riley, his first of the season.

Coastal Carolina added another three in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single from Bodine and a two-run homer from Beach that appeared to go directly over the foul pole in left. Campbell challenged the play, but the call stood.

Reed Stallman hit the Camel's second solo homer of the day, sending it over the wall in left center. He now has three home runs and eight RBI this season.

Coastal's offense stayed consistent, scoring another two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.
