BUIES CREEK – Campbell beat UNCW in an instant classic 105-100 in double overtime Monday night inside Gore Arena.
Anthony Dell'Orso led the way with 34 points and 11 rebounds, while
Jasin Sinani added 27 points and five assists.
The win gets Campbell to 13-16, 7-9 on the year, while UNCW drops to 20-8, 11-5 in the league. Campbell split the season series with the Seahawks after dropping a thriller in Wilmington 87-84 earlier this month.
The high-scoring affair sets the new mark for most combined points inside Gore Arena at 205, beating the previous mark of 190 set in 2014. The victory was Campbell's first 2OT win since beating Presbyterian in the 2022 Big South quarterfinals.
The Camels led by as many as 17 in the second half, but UNCW fought back and splashed a three to tie things up with 18 seconds left to tie the game at 81-81 and ultimately send things to overtime. Campbell had the ball last at the end of regulation and the first overtime period but couldn't get either look to go down.
Heading to the second OT at 91-91, Campbell finally sealed the deal winning the final OT period 14-9.
Jasin Sinani was at his best late, scoring 13 points across both overtimes, including going 3-3 from beyond the arc in OT.
Sinani and Dell'Orso went shot-for-shot with UNCW's Trazarien White who posted a game-high 38. The Sinani and Dell'Orso duo was there on the defensive end in crunch time, though, and bothered White's potential game-tying shot with 12 seconds left, on what turned out to be UNCW's final real possession.
Following White's miss, Mokseckas went 1-2 at the stripe to put Campbell up three with four seconds left. Sinani was there for the offensive rebound and kickout following the missed second free throw to seal the deal.
UNCW never led by more than four, and didn't lead in the second half. OT was a different story with a back-and-forth affair that resulted in 11 lead changes and 10 ties in the contest.
Dell'Orso has now scored at least 20 in seven straight games, and has three games with 30+ this season. Sinani's 27 point outing was a new career-high for the junior.
Laurynas Vaistaras added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, the first double-double of his career.
Elijah Walsh also added 15 point on the night to put four Camels in double figures. The top two scoring performances of Walsh's career have both been against UNCW, having scored his career-high 18 during the trip to Wilmington four weeks ago.
Campbell dominated the glass, outrebounding the Seahawks 41-32. Otherwise, the box score was naturally pretty even in most categories. Campbell hit 10 threes to UNCW's nine, both team's turned it over just nine times, and each team had 54 points in the paint. Campbell shot 54% on 70 FG attempts, while UNCW shot 49% on 73 attempts.
Monday night marked the first time in CU's D1 era (since 1977) that both teams scored 100 points. The game finishes 12 points shy of the all-time record 217, from a 133-84 win over Methodist in 1987.
Monday night was Campbell's second nationally televised game of the year on CBS Sports Network. Campbell is now 2-0 in those games after an earlier win over Elon.
The late night was capped with a court storming of Wanda Watkins Court, the first on the newly named court sometime well after 11 p.m.
Campbell faces a tough road test at league-leading Charleston Thursday night at 7 p.m. That game wll be broadcast on FloHoops.
