BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell returns to action this weekend with a pair of matches, heading to Mount Olive on Saturday, while hosting Barton in its home opener on Sunday.
Saturday's matchup at Mount Olive is set for 11:00 a.m., while Sunday's tilt at the Nisbet Tennis Center will feature a 1:00 p.m. start. The matchups will be Campbell's first competition since January 18.
Last time out, Phillip Jordan edged out a 7-5 second set win for No. 13 North Carolina, clinching the best of seven matchup over visiting Campbell, 4-0, in the spring dual opener for both teams in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Carolina took the tightly contested doubles point for the early lead in the matchup. After UNC's Patrick Schoen and Peter Murphy defeated
Pol Otin and Noe MacQuart, 6-1, the duo of Will Jansen and Karl Poling edged Campbell's
Lukas Steffen and
Tomas Balazi, 6-4, to seal the first tally for the Tar Heels.
No. 83 Will Peters (6-0, 6-1) and Will Jansen (6-1, 6-2) opened single play with wins for the Tar Heels. Jordan notched a 6-1 first set win before topping Balazi 7-5.
Saturday will be the dual opener for Mount Olive, while Barton is 0-2 on the season, most recently falling 7-0 to Lander.
Next up, the Camels will host North Carolina Central on February 8.
