BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Four Camels scored in double-figures as Campbell defeated UNCW 77-57 Friday night in its annual #Play4Kay game at Gore Arena.
Campbell picked up its third-straight win and improves to 12-9 overall and 5-5 in CAA play. UNCW meanwhile falls to 4-17 overall and 2-8 in league games.
The Camels used a 10-0 run in the first quarter to pull away and never looked back, leading 38-26 at halftime and by as many as 24 in the second half.
Gianni Boone led Campbell with a season-high 14 points, making 5-of-8 from the field including 2-of-2 from three. and made 2-of-2 threes. Sarah Hammack Fitzgerald added 12 points in 17 minutes while Brittany Staves provided 12 points along with five assists, three steals and block.
Shy Tuelle scored eight points and became the 10th Camel to reach 1,300 career points with her three-pointer with 3:01 left in the fourth quarter. Svenia Nurenberg recorded five assists for a third-straight game and finished with seven points and seven rebounds.
Campbell shot 52.7 percent (29-of-55) from the floor, 40.9 percent (9-of-22) and converted 10-of-11 free throws. The Camels outscored the Seahawks 38-18 in the paint, 11-2 on fast breaks and held a 40-21 rebound advantage.
Taylor Henderson led the Seahawks with a game-high 20 points while Kylah Silver added 10 points. UNCW shot 37.5 percent (21-of-56) from the floor and 31.6 percent (6-of-19) from three.
Campbell returns to action Sunday in a 2:00 PM tip at College of Charleston.
