Catcher Grant Knipp leads the team in batting average (.453), hits (24), RBI (28), home runs (12), slugging percentage (1.226) and on base percentage (.605). He has also recorded four stolen bases and two saves.
Knipp is ranked top-30 in the country in multiple statistics: home runs (second), slugging percentage (second), total bases (second), batting average (28th), on-base percentage (seventh) and runs (eighth).
Zach Sabers leads the Campbell pitching staff with a 3.68 ERA and 22.0 innings pitched in his four starts. Cooper Clark has recorded the second-most strikeouts on staff, with 21.
Series History
The two teams last played each other in 2012, when Campbell swept Valpo in a three-game series. That is the one and only time the two teams have faced each other.
Know Your Opponent
The Beacons are 7-8 on the year, playing every game on the road to start the season. They are coming off a 5-2 win over Gardner-Webb on Tuesday and a series win against The Citadel last weekend.
Left fielder Kyle Schmack leads the team with a .333 batting average and five home runs. He also has the most stolen bases on the team, with six.
Friday starter Connor Lockwood leads the team with a 2.25 ERA. He has started two games, has pitched eight innings, and has a 1-0 record. He's logged seven strikeouts, three walks, and allowed one home run with an opposing batting average of .233.
Brian Schmack leads the Beacons in his 11th season at the helm. He holds a career record of 195-302, and a 20-27 record last season.
After finishing tied-seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference last year, Valpo is picked to finish ninth this season, two points ahead of last-place (Bradley).
Last Time Out
The Fighting Camels defeated the Lafayette Leopards on Tuesday evening, 11-5. Knipp, Lawson Harrill and Charlie Meglio each homered, and Jackson Roberts secured his third win of the year.
