HAMPTON, VA. - Christabel Ezumah scored 16 points and pulled in a career-high 21Â rebounds and Shy Tuelle set the program's single-season three point record as Campbell defeated Hampton 70-61 Saturday afternoon at the Hampton Convocation Center.
Campbell wraps up the regular season 16-13 overall and 9-9 in its first season as members of the CAA.
The Camels never trailed and led by as many as 18 against Hampton (3-25, 3-15).
Ezumah recorded her seventh double-double of the season in the second quarter, finishing the first half with 12 points and 16 boards. Her 21 rebounds also marks a career-best and the most for a Camel since Taya Bolden's 21 rebound effort at Winthrop in 2019. Ezumah made 7-of-10 shots from the floor and swatted away three shots in 28 minutes of action.
Tuelle set the program's single season record for threes after connecting on her third three of the third quarter marking her fourth of the game and 76th on the year. Tuelle, who also owns the program record for total three-pointers with 297 in her career, finished the game with 14 points.
Svenia Nurenberg came close to a double-double herself with 11 points and 9 rebounds while Brittany Staves added nine points and six rebounds.Both Nurenberg and Staves surpassed 500 career rebounds becoming the 26th and 27th Camels to reach the milestone and third and fourth this season after Ezumah and Tuelle hit the mark in February. The CU bench was led by Audrey Fuller who provided 10 points and Gianni Boone who finished with eight points.Â
Cheyenne Talbot led Hampton with 19 points and 10 boards while Casey Miller scored 13 off the bench.
CU shot 42.0 percent (29-of-69) from the field and made 8-of-27 threes while limiting the Lady Pirates to shoot 33.9 percent (21-of-62) from the floor and 4-of-11 from behind the arc.
Campbell collected 57 rebounds, marking the most boards against a D-I opponent for since totaling 58 in a win against High Point on Dec. 28, 2019.
