BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell begins play in the 2024 CAA Men's Tennis Championship on Thursday, April 18 against Hampton.
The sixth-seeded Camels (12-7) are paired with the No. 11 seed Pirates (8-13) for the 3:00 p.m. match of Thursday's opening round. The tournament will run through April 21 at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts on the campus of William & Mary.
Kicking off Thursday's action, No. 8 seed Charleston (11-10) will meet No. 9 seed North Carolina A&T (13-4) at 9:00 a.m., followed by No. 7 seed Drexel (12-8) against No. 10 seed Hofstra (7-10) at noon.
There are four quarterfinal contests on Friday. Top-seeded UNCW (14-5) faces the Charleston/North Carolina A&T winner at 9:00 a.m., followed by fourth-seeded Monmouth (15-5) against No. 5 seed William & Mary (12-9) at noon. No. 2 seed Delaware (15-3) meets the Drexel/Hofstra winner at 3:00 p.m., and No. 3 seed Elon (14-7) challenges the Campbell/Hampton winner at 6:00 p.m.
The winners advance to Saturday's semifinals, which will be held at noon and 3:00 p.m. The championship match will be played at 2 p.m. on Sunday, with an automatic berth to the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship on the line.
Admission is free to all matches at the CAA Men's Tennis Championship.
Campbell closed out the regular season by winning three straight outings, including its home finale over Charleston, 6-1, and a 7-0 tune-up at North Carolian Wesleyan.
Sweeping through the match against Wesleyan in straight sets, CU took the doubles point on
Damien Nezar and
Tomas Balazi's 6-1 win over Diego Segovia and Albert Sitwell.
Noe Macquart started singles competition by topping Bernardo Messineo 6-1, 6-0, followed by a 6-2, 6-0 win for
Matias Lofink over Luca Knese. Nezar then clinched the match, notching a 6-3, 6-3 victory over John Falke.
Hampton, meanwhile, ended the season by winning five of its last six matchups, including a 4-0 decision over Norfolk State on Tuesday.
